Basketball Recap: Malachi Barker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Galesburg Christian over Varsity Opponent

Galesburg Christian was the 68-60 winner over Varsity Opponent when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Lions took a 54-36 bruising from Varsity Opponent on Friday.

Galesburg Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Malachi Barker, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Miller, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 10 points.

Galesburg Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Galesburg Christian will head out to take on Faith Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Varsity Opponent, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-19 loss against Heritage Christian Academy on the 21st.
