Basketball Game Preview: Colleton County Cougars vs. Hampton County Hurricanes

The Colleton County Cougars will take on the Hampton County Hurricanes in a holiday battle at at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Colleton County turned things around against Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Red Raiders by a score of 59-51. The score was all tied up 25-25 at the break, but the Cougars were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hampton County). They breezed by Hardeeville to the tune of 82-28 on Thursday. The Hurricanes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Hampton County pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Colleton County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Colleton County suffered a grim 65-44 defeat to Hampton County in their previous matchup two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hampton County's Darius Brooks, who went 14 for 20 on his way to 33 points and five rebounds.
