Football Recap: Mangum Starts Season with Win Against Wilson

Mangum gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed past the Wilson Eagles to the tune of 54-18. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Mangum got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zeke Rogers out in front who picked up 144 receiving yards and two scores. Those two receiving touchdowns gave Rogers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Remington Laughlin, who threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mangum's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cooper Kerbo, Max Richardson, and Beau Rogers, who each picked up one sack apiece. Mangum received some extra help from Richardson, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Wilson's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Mangum has already played their next game, a 65-16 win against Hobart on the 12th. As for Wilson, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-0 victory against Walters on the 12th.
