Baseball Game Preview: Nashoba Regional Wolves vs. Shrewsbury Colonials

The Nashoba Regional Wolves will square off against the Shrewsbury Colonials at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Nashoba Regional 3, Shrewsbury 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Nashoba Regional's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Fitchburg as they made off with a 12-0 victory. With that win, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Cam Scatpati tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jake Schwartz was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Nikhil Siano was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

Nashoba Regional always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Shrewsbury is still undefeated this season after their game against Leominster on Friday, but Leominster came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Colonials came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Blue Devils. While the Colonials didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Nashoba Regional now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Shrewsbury, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
