Preview: High School of the Future vs. Benjamin Franklin Electrons
After two games on the road, High School of the Future is heading back home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Benjamin Franklin Electrons at 12:00 p.m. on January 16th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
High School of the Future scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat TECH Freire Charter 76-47 on the road. High School of the Future has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 24 points or more this season.
High School of the Future's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from A Jeune, who scored 22 points along with six assists and five steals. Jeune is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was D Lubin, who scored 21 points.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Franklin had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 77-47 win over Tacony Academy Charter. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Benjamin Franklin has managed all season.
Benjamin Franklin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Soukare Fane, who scored 22 points along with five steals. Fane has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of David Winchester, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
High School of the Future's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Benjamin Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Tuesday's match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jeune and Fane. Jeune has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 20.5 points, 2.9 steals, and 3.5 assists. For his part, Fane has averaged 17.3 points and 1.8 steals.
High School of the Future strolled past Benjamin Franklin in their previous meeting back in December of 2019 by a score of 68-53. Will High School of the Future repeat their success, or does Benjamin Franklin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
