Basketball Game Preview: Elkhart Lions vs. Lawrence Central Bears

The Elkhart Lions will take on the Lawrence Central Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Elkhart got the win against Mishawaka Marian by a conclusive 52-26. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Knights are ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Central had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They breezed by the Warriors to the tune of 72-27. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for the Bears this season.

Elkhart is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Lawrence Central, their victory bumped their record up to 20-1.
