The Prairie Central Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Prairie Central has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin will come in with three straight victories.
Prairie Central came up short against Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Monday, falling 13-3.
Prairie Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Friedman, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was Friedman's first of the season. Another was Lane Whitfil, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin earned a 7-3 win over Iroquois West on Monday. That's two games straight that the Blue Devils have won by exactly four runs.
CRUZ DUBOIS made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 4-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JAXEN SPICER, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of MICAH STANFORD, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Iroquois West only managed five hits.
Prairie Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Prairie Central might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
