Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Erin Stewart and Bella Birky Lead Kouts to Victory

While Kouts's win against DeMotte Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs & Fillies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Knights on Thursday.

Kouts was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (99-89), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 10-25, 25-20, 25-19, 14-25, 15-10.

Kouts was led to victory by Bella Birky and Erin Stewart. Birky had 17 digs and four assists, while Stewart had 11 digs and nine kills. That's the most assists Birky has posted since back in August.

Kouts has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-15 record this season. As for DeMotte Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

Looking ahead, Kouts is taking a road trip to face off against Westville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for DeMotte Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Tri-Township on the 26th.
