Basketball Recap: Mishawaka Takes a Loss

Mishawaka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Penn Kingsmen and fell 63-12. While losing is never fun, the Cavemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Kingsmen are ranked 31st).

Mishawaka got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Holly Shine and Millie Mammolenti, who each put up four points. Tinayja Summers held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

It was another big night for Jessa Troy, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 24 points for Penn. The matchup was Troy's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alivia Dawson, who posted ten points.

Mishawaka's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Penn, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mishawaka will face off against Elkhart Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Penn, they will take on Elkhart at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Penn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season.
