Basketball Game Preview: Progreso Red Ants vs. Rio Hondo Bobcats

Progreso hasn't had much luck against Rio Hondo recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Progreso Red Ants will venture away from home to square off against the Rio Hondo Bobcats at 7:00 p.m.

Progreso will head into Friday's game out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They lost 49-27 to Lyford.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rio Hondo). They blew past IDEA Frontier College Prep, posting an 88-34 victory. The win was nothing new for the Bobcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Rio Hondo is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Progreso, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-14.

Progreso was dealt a bruising 67-34 loss at the hands of Rio Hondo when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Progreso avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
