Basketball Recap: Metrolina Christian Academy Starts Season with Win Against South Charlotte

Metrolina Christian Academy took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 67-58 victory over the South Charlotte Thunder. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Thunder recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Leading Metrolina Christian Academy to victory were Rickey Torrence and Malachi Wilson. Torrence went 9-for-18 to rack up 23 points, while Wilson shot 78% from the field en route to 16 points and seven assists. Those seven assists gave Wilson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Whitehurst, who posted nine points.

South Charlotte lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brenden LaCroix, who put up 12 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Kristoffer Lang Jr. was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

South Charlotte's loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Metrolina Christian Academy has already played their next matchup, a 60-59 victory against Charlotte Country Day School on the 13th. As for South Charlotte, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-58 win against Forsyth Home Educators on the 14th.
