The Crawfordsville Athenians will venture away from home to face off against the Western Boone Stars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crawfordsville will be strutting in after a win while Western Boone will be coming in after a loss.
Crawfordsville is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Benton Central 10-0 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Braeden Schlote was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Sam Minnette was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jacob Lee was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Crawfordsville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Western Boone didn't have quite enough to beat Cascade on Friday and fell 4-3. The Stars have struggled against the Cadets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Levi Stewart was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last four contests.
At the plate, Western Boone saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kahne Reid, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Crawfordsville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Western Boone, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Crawfordsville took their victory against Western Boone in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-1 score. Do the Athenians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Stars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
