Basketball Recap: Welsh Comes Up Short

Welsh lost against Lafayette Christian Academy back in January of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Welsh Greyhounds took a blow against the Lafayette Christian Academy Knights, falling 62-14. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Knights are ranked eighth).

Welsh's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, the win (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 22-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Welsh will take on Lake Arthur at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lake Arthur's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Midland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lafayette Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Midland likes a good challenge.
