Recap: Clovis Cougars vs. Clovis West Golden Eagles
There's no place like home for The Clovis Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They took down Clovis West 48-34 on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Deagan Rose was his usual excellent self, throwing for 319 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes, and also punching in three touchdowns on the ground. Another player making a difference was Jacob Saldate, who picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Clovis West lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Patrick. Despite the final result, he threw for 388 yards and four touchdowns. Landon Wright was another key contributor, picking up 124 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Clovis' win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Clovis West, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clovis will take on St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Joseph will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Clovis West, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hanford at 7:00 p.m. Hanford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 236 points over their last five matchups.
