Baseball Recap: Northshore Triumphs

The third road game was the charm for Northshore, as they earned their first road win of the season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Covington Lions an 8-0 shutout on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted against the Lions since April 9, 2019.

Cale Bricker looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit every time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Smith, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aviel Johnson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Northshore now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for Covington, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northshore will take on East Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Northshore's pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so East Jefferson's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Covington, they will face off against John Curtis Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
