Baseball Game Preview: Village Tech Viper Squid vs. Van Alstyne Panthers

The Village Tech Viper Squid will challenge the Van Alstyne Panthers at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Village Tech unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Whitewright on Tuesday, falling 16-3. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Village Tech saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicolas Soto, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Van Alstyne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Gunter. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly two runs.

Village Tech might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Van Alstyne in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can Village Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
