Softball Recap: Staunton Comes Up Short

Staunton blew Greenville out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Greenville got their revenge. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Comets by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Staunton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Bandy, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Bandy has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Staunton's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Greenville, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2-1 record this season.

Staunton and Greenville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Bulldogs will challenge Litchfield at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd with a big rank advantage (92 vs. 256). Meanwhile, Greenville (ranked 107th) will meet Granite City (ranked 301st) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
