Recap: Tremont Eagles vs. Hickory Flat Rebels
After low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, the Tremont Eagles brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They walked away with a 60-48 victory over Hickory Flat on Saturday. The victory was just what Tremont needed coming off of a 49-25 loss in their prior matchup.
Tremont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Saige Black, who scored 19 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Black posted two or more blocks. Grace Gillespie was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Tremont's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Hickory Flat, they dropped their record down to 13-11 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tremont will take on Wheeler at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Rebekah Mason and Paige Gillespie. As for Hickory Flat, they will be playing at home against Myrtle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Myrtle is ranked 172nd, while Hickory Flat is ranked 157th).
