Baseball Recap: Canisius Has No Trouble Against St. Francis

Canisius barely beat St. Francis the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Crusaders put the hurt on the Red Raiders with a sharp 10-4 win on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Crusaders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Josh Kandefer tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Canisius is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Canisius got a massive performance out of David Cloyd, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Cloyd has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Nick Scime, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Canisius kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Canisius has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Francis, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Canisius beat the Red Raiders by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday.
