Softball Recap: Westlake Chaparrals vs. Dripping Springs Tigers
Westlake extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 11-14 in the process. They came up short against the Dripping Springs Tigers, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 back in March.
As for Dripping Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.
For Dripping Springs' part, Sadie Bradford made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Bradford was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Lorelei Gamble was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Lauren Byrnes was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As of now, neither Westlake nor Dripping Springs have any future games scheduled.
