Softball Game Preview: Oak Forest Bengals vs. Sandburg Eagles

The Oak Forest Bengals are taking a road trip to challenge the Sandburg Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Forest's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Sandburg's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Oak Forest's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They didn't even let Thornton Fractional North on the board, marking the Bengals' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Bengals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Sandburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Lincoln-Way Central.

The victory made it two in a row for Oak Forest and bumps their season record up to 8-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Sandburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Oak Forest was able to grind out a solid victory over Sandburg when the teams last played back in April of 2023, winning 7-4. Will the Bengals repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
