Preview: Henning Hornets vs. New York Mills Eagles

The Henning Hornets will head out on the road to take on the New York Mills Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Henning has three straight victories, New York Mills has 22 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Wadena-Deer Creek typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Henning proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 72-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Meanwhile, New York Mills came up short against Pillager on Tuesday and fell 61-50. While losing is never fun, New York Mills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Pillager is ranked 201st).

Henning's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for New York Mills, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.

Everything came up roses for Henning against New York Mills when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 74-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Henning since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
