Basketball Recap: Lefors Comes Up Short

Lefors was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost to the Shamrock Irish at home by a 50-31 margin. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1183rd, while the Irish are ranked 513th).

Shamrock found their leader in sophomore Addison Jernigan, who posted 16 points and seven steals. Jernigan is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Cook, who earned ten points and eight rebounds.

Lefors' defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Shamrock, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Lefors wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 80-33 loss against McLean on the 13th. As for Shamrock, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 29-25 win against River Road on the 12th.
