Football Recap: Towanda Piles Up the Points Against Sayre

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Towanda). They blew past the Sayre Redskins, posting a 43-14 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Black Knights considering their seven-point performance the game before.

Tanner Vanderpool was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 79 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 38 receiving yards. That's the most receiving yards he has posted since back in October of 2024.

Towanda didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kolton McPeak and Aaden Blokzyl. McPeak is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played.

Towanda's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Sayre, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Towanda will welcome Tunkhannock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sayre, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Canton at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th. The Redskins will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.88 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
