Basketball Recap: Spring Comes Up Short

Spring was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 68-54 bruising from the Iowa Colony Pioneers. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Defeat or not, Spring got some senior leadership from Jaylan Tran and Richard Gant. Tran posted 16 points and four steals, while Gant shot 50% from the field to rack up 10 points. Tran is becoming a predictor of the Lions' success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ryan Walker, who scored ten points.

Spring's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Iowa Colony, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Looking ahead, Spring will venture away from home to square off against Klein Collins at 7:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Iowa Colony, they are taking a road trip to face off against Fulshear at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
