Basketball Game Preview: Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans vs. Phoenix Country Day Eagles

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy is 0-10 against Phoenix Country Day since February of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans will square off against the Phoenix Country Day Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy picked up another tournament win last Saturday. They walked away with a 38-30 victory over Camp Verde.

It was another big night for Maeve Morgan, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 12 boards, and 11 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Crandall, who posted five points in addition to 21 rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Phoenix Country Day had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Heroes 64-5. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Phoenix Country Day, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy was taken down by Phoenix Country Day 73-14 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Scottsdale Preparatory Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
