Casey County dropped down to 19-12 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Russell County Lakers, falling 16-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 back in March.
Casey County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harmony Meece/Richardson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Elizabeth Forbes was another, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Russell County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games.
On Russell County's side, Madelyn Roy was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Roy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Roberstson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Casey County will venture away from home to challenge East Jessamine at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Rebels' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Russell County, they are taking a road trip to face off against Somerset at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
