Football Recap: Fort Frye Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Caldwell kept up with Fort Frye until halftime on Friday, but afterwards: not so much. The Cadets were the clear victors by a 31-7 margin over the Redskins. Given the Cadets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the Redskins are ranked 482nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Tyce Beardsley and Gavin Rauch. Beardsley rushed for 127 yards and one TD on only 14 carries while Rauch rushed for 116 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Beardsley didn't just play on offense: he also made one tackle and defended two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions.

Fort Frye was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 315 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 219 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Fort Frye didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Beardsley.

Fort Frye pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points over those games. As for Caldwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Fort Frye will look to defend their home field on Friday against Greenbrier West at 6:30 p.m. As for Caldwell, they will head out on the road to take on Bishop Rosecrans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
