Baseball Recap: Tucumcari Find Success

Tucumcari hadn't done well against Raton recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Tucumcari walked away with a 9-4 win over Raton. This was payback for the Rattlers, who suffered a 15-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Matt Gomez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Gomez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Trip Payn was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Tucumcari was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
