Preview: Florala Wildcats vs. Straughn Tigers

Florala has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Straughn Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Florala focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday.

Florala's and Pleasant Home's contest was close at halftime, but Florala turned on the heat in the second half with 38 points. Florala was the clear victor by a 61-40 margin over Pleasant Home. That 61-40 margin sets a new team best for Florala this season.

Florala's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah McMeans, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayshon Coleman, who scored 15 points along with seven assists.

Meanwhile, Straughn ended up a good deal behind McKenzie on Monday and lost 60-41. Straughn has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Florala has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Straughn, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Florala didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Straughn in their previous matchup back in November, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Florala since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
