Baseball Recap: River Ridge Wins Going Away Against Springstead

River Ridge was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Springstead on Thursday. The River Ridge Royal Knights were the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over the Springstead Eagles. The win continues a trend for the Royal Knights in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Hagen Conner made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Conner was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other pitching news, Evan Handelong looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Cameron Kessell was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy DeLoreto, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The victory got River Ridge back to even at 3-3. As for Springstead, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2.

Looking ahead, River Ridge will head out on the road to take on Hudson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Springstead, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Central at 7:00 p.m. Springstead is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
