Basketball Recap: Hough Piles Up the Points Against West Mecklenburg

There's no place like home for Hough, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They breezed by the West Mecklenburg Hawks to the tune of 58-15 on Friday. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Hawks are ranked 611th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hough's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Judah Freeman led the charge by going 5 for 7 on his way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Otto, who posted eight points in addition to nine boards and three steals.

Hough was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hough's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-5. As for West Mecklenburg, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Hough will head out to face off against West Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in West Charlotte's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for West Mecklenburg, they will host North Mecklenburg at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
