Recap: Tracy Bulldogs vs. Lodi Flames
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Mary's, The Tracy Bulldogs were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Lodi by a score of 42-14 (the very same score they lost by the week prior). The result was nothing new for Tracy, who have now won three matches by 28 points or more so far this season.
Aidan VanOs continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 208 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Tracy also got help from Rocco Mendicino who showed off his sure hands for 92 receiving yards.
Lodi's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Shinn, who threw for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Brody Mackey was another key contributor, picking up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Tracy's win was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 West and 3-6 Lodi (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.3% over those games). As for Lodi, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Tracy will be playing in front of their home fans against West at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 612th, while Tracy is ranked 90th). As for Lodi, they will head out on the road to face off against Tokay at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Tokay is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
