Football Recap: Meadowbrook Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Dashaun Chisem and Dashod Singleton

After flying high against Colonial Heights last Thursday, Meadowbrook came back down to earth. The Monarchs lost 33-12 to the Matoaca Warriors on Thursday. The Monarchs have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Dashod Singleton and Dashaun Chisem certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Singleton picked up 112 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Chisem threw for 217 yards and two TDs. Singleton was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 53 yards.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Ricari Enoch-Bailey for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Meadowbrook; they were averaging 5.2yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 2.8 per game.

Stephen Ankiel was a one-man wrecking crew For Matoaca. as he threw for 335 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 14.0 yards per attempt. Those 335 passing yards gave Ankiel a new career-high.

Meadowbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Matoaca, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-7 record this season.
