Baseball Recap: Prairie Heights' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Prairie Heights had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They skirted past the Central Noble Cougars 7-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in April.

Joel Graber made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Prairie Heights' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-17 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Lakyn Duke was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Prairie Heights is 4-1 when Duke posts two or more runs, but 3-17 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Abbott, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Prairie Heights moved to 7-18 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Central Noble, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Prairie Heights nor Central Noble have any future games scheduled.
