Softball Recap: Lebanon Tigers vs. McCutcheon Mavericks
Lebanon had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it five. They came up short against the McCutcheon Mavericks, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 on Wednesday.
Addyson Zell was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
As for McCutcheon, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.
On McCutcheon's side, Makenzie Grimes made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Grimes was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, McCutcheon got a massive performance out of Addison Gillespie, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ashtyn Strimel, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

The matchup will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season. Meanwhile, McCutcheon is set to face off against their familiar foe Harrison at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will also be the Mavericks' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
