Basketball Recap: Portsmouth Trojans vs. Dawson-Bryant Hornets
Even though the Dawson-Bryant Hornets scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, the Portsmouth Trojans still came out on top. Portsmouth snuck past the Hornets with a 63-58 win. Given Portsmouth's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Hornets are ranked 606th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Deandre Berry was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of isaiah lewis, who scored 14 points.
Portsmouth's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Dawson-Bryant, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Portsmouth will challenge the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chesapeake is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Dawson-Bryant, they will head out on the road to square off against the Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
