Soccer Game Preview: Johnson vs. Islands

Johnson hasn't had much luck against Islands recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Atomsmashers will look to defend their home pitch against the Sharks at 7:00 p.m. Johnson's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

If Johnson beats Islands with one goal on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Atomsmashers who were credited with the win on Tuesday. Johnson got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Long County's two.

Islands is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Beach a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for Islands in their matchups with Beach: they've now won eight in a row.

Islands' win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Johnson, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1-1.
