Volleyball Recap: River Falls' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact River Falls can now relate to. They fell just short of the Stevens Point Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, River Falls still got an impressive performance from Olivia Doerre, who had 35 digs and five assists. Doerre has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Leading Stevens Point to victory were Lenna Mayer and Katie Kornowski. Mayer had 27 digs and two aces, while Kornowski had 44 assists and 14 digs. What's more, Kornowski also posted a 66.7% hitting percentage, which is the highest she's achieved over her last six matchups.

The defeat snapped River Falls' winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 34-7 record. As for Stevens Point, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 32-7.

River Falls does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stevens Point, they will take on Waunakee on Thursday.
