Baseball Recap: Valley Central Vikings vs. Warwick Wildcats
Valley Central extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-6 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Warwick Wildcats. Even if the Vikings couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Kellen Pliler and Justin Freeman stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pliler got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Freeman went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was Pliler's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Strobach, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.
As for Warwick, their win bumped their record up to 5-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
On Warwick's side, the team relied heavily on Garrison Sobo, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Sobo a new career-high. Michael Molinelli was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
