Sugar Creek scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 97-32 victory over Apprentice Academy at home. With Sugar Creek ahead 60-17 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Sugar Creek can attribute much of their success to Terry Watson, who scored 24 points along with two steals and two blocks, and Aidan Gatewood, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, ten rebounds, and 12 assists. That's the first time this season that Gatewood posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Corde Harrison, who scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, even though Carter G. Woodson scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy still came out on top. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy made off with a 59-58 win over Carter G. Woodson. The win made it back-to-back wins for Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy.
Sugar Creek's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.7 points per game. As for Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-13.
Everything came up roses for Sugar Creek against Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 85-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sugar Creek since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
