Football Recap: Poland Knights vs. Madison/Carrabec/Valley        
        
		
             After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Winthrop/Monmouth Academy/Hall-Dale, Poland was happy to have turned things around  on Friday. They were the clear victor by  a  48-25 margin over Madison/Carrabec/Valley. The  win was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their 11-game losing streak dating back to last season.
  Damon Martin was  his usual excellent self, rushing for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 38 yards and a touchdown. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D,  forcing three fumbles and making nine total tackles in addition to snagging   an  interception.  Lucas Verrill was another key player, rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
 He was just one part of a punishing run game: Poland was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 235  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've managed all season.
 Poland wouldn't let Madison/Carrabec/Valley keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. Martin was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance.
 Poland's first  victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Madison/Carrabec/Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poland will host Dirigo  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Poland is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season. As for Madison/Carrabec/Valley, they will welcome Maine Central Institute  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
