Basketball Recap: AJ Manning's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Western Harnett over Overhills

Western Harnett lost against Overhills back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Eagles fell 39-33 to the Jaguars.

Western Harnett's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was AJ Manning, who posted nine points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ricky Williams, who earned six points.

Overhills can attribute much of their success to Zachiah Chalmers, who scored 12 points and five boards. Chalmers has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 56% every time he's hit the court this season. Zi'Mire Graham was another key player, putting up five points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.

Western Harnett's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Overhills, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Western Harnett will face off against Red Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Overhills, they will challenge Lumberton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
