Softball Game Preview: Somers Tuskers vs. Eastchester Eagles

The Somers Tuskers are taking a road trip to take on the Eastchester Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Somers blew Lakeland out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Lakeland got their revenge. The Tuskers fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 4-2.

Kaleigh Conti was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Keira Griggs, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Eastchester had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Ardsley. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Sabrina Cosgrove spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grace Comizio, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Alyssa Peduto was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

Eastchester hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.
