Recap: Crisp County Cougars vs. Columbus Blue Devils
The Crisp County Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. The matchup between them and Columbus wasn't particularly close, with Crisp County falling 58-40. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Crisp County of the 66-51 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Crisp County's loss came despite strong showings from Zakariyya Dwight and Jaylon Cooper. Dwight almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, while Cooper scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds. Dwight has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zymarion Hudson, who scored two points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Robert Hartford continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Columbus, scoring 22 points along with two steals. De'andre Wooten was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 rebounds and ten assists.
Crisp County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Columbus, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-8.
Crisp County will head out on the road to challenge Thomasville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Crisp County is coming into the game with five straight losses on the road, meaning Thomasville will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Columbus, they will be playing at home against Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbus has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
