Baseball Recap: Sayre Takes a Loss

Sayre was the 5-4 winner over Madison Central when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans fell 8-3 to the Indians on Wednesday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sayre got a good showing from Elliott Jansky, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Jansky has allowed since back in March.

At the plate, Gary Gibson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base.

Sayre's defeat dropped their record down to 22-5. As for Madison Central, they pushed their record up to 16-11 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, Sayre will venture away from home to challenge Scott County at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Madison Central, they will welcome Whitley County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
