Football Game Preview: ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars vs. Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes

The ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. ROWVA/Williamsfield hasn't scored more than 12 points for seven games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 42-6, which was the final score in ROWVA/Williamsfield's tilt against Annawan-Wethersfield on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 466th, while the Titans are ranked 145th).

Meanwhile, Abingdon/Avon played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 46-14 loss at the hands of Rushville-Industry. The Tornadoes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-6.

ROWVA/Williamsfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Abingdon/Avon, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything came up roses for ROWVA/Williamsfield against Abingdon/Avon in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
