Basketball Game Preview: East Carteret Mariners vs. Croatan Cougars

The East Carteret Mariners will challenge the Croatan Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: East Carteret has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Croatan will arrive with five straight victories.

East Carteret is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Carteret on Friday.

Meanwhile, Croatan won against Cape Hatteras on Friday with 52 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Croatan walked away with a 52-45 win over Southwest Onslow.

Croatan found their leader in freshman Leah Johnson, who went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Buchan, who posted 12 points and six assists.

Croatan's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for East Carteret, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
