Mishawaka is 9-1 against Warsaw since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Cavemen will be playing at home against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Mishawaka is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Mishawaka managed to slip by Western the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cavemen lost 16-1 to the Panthers on Saturday. The Cavemen's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Holly Shine was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Warsaw and Huntington North meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Addison Eastwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Addyson Sainer and Mia Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Sainer went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Ellyse Walters was another key player, earning two runs and three stolen bases.
Mishawaka's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Warsaw, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Warsaw's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Mishawaka has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Warsaw, though, as they've been averaging only 2.2 strikeouts. Will Mishawaka keep running through batters, or will the Tigers buck the trend?
Everything went Mishawaka's way against Warsaw in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Mishawaka made off with an 11-1 win. Will the Cavemen repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
