Football Game Preview: Eastside Tigers vs. West Deptford Eagles

The Eastside Tigers will take on the West Deptford Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eastside has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while West Deptford will come in with three straight wins.

Eastside lost 38-14 to Shawnee two weeks ago.

Eastside's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Naeem Dale, who threw for 235 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Dymear Hill, who picked up 107 receiving yards and one TD. Hill is becoming a predictor of the Tigers' success: when he posts at least 80 receiving yards the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, West Deptford didn't have too much trouble with Overbrook on Friday as they won 21-6.

West Deptford's win came from a few key players Eastside will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cole Paskiewicz, who rushed for 148 yards and one score on only 12 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Zamir Davis, who rushed for 89 yards and one TD on only nine carries.

West Deptford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Davis.

West Deptford's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Eastside, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything went Eastside's way against West Deptford when the teams last played back in September of 2021, as Eastside made off with a 28-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
